Talon E+ Tuning Solutions

PLANET3 is a planetary gear set which reduces the rotation speed of the magnet used by the wheel speed sensor three times. For every three full rotations of the rear wheel, the magnet completes just one full rotation – effectively making the bike think it’s doing 1/3 the speed it is actually doing, thus increasing the pedal assist speed limit by a factor of 3. For the Giant models the ratio is limited to a factor of 1.5 instead of 3 (50% bump in speed limit) because Giant implemented checks for cadence vs. speed (gear detection) in 2023 that can result in your motor being locked and requiring a 150-300 EUR intervention to unlock it. That’s why dual planet setup is mandatory for Giant e-bikes and we STRONGLY DISCOURAGE you from trying to ride a single planet config with the ratio of 3:1 (3x increase in speed limit)!
